Polar Educators International Community Meeting @ASSW21 - Connecting education, research and the global community

Contact: Sophie Weeks (sophie.weeks@gmail.com)

Polar scientists, informal and formal educators, and all those who teach about the polar regions are welcome to join our Polar Educators International (PEI) community meeting. We are a network for anyone with a passion for improving teaching and communication about the importance and relevance of the Arctic, Antarctic and high mountain regions. PEI represents a vibrant international hub for knowledge transfer and dissemination of polar research and knowledge to audiences around the globe, particularly the younger generation. We exchange science, teaching ideas, resources, methodologies, and collaborate to develop events and activities to deliver training for our peers. Join us and work together connecting polar education, research and the global community. The PEI community meeting at ASSW21 aims to:

  • 1. Enlist help to review and update the IPY 2010 publication Polar Science and Global Change - An International Resource for Education and Outreach - The Polar Resource Book.

  • 2. Bring together examples of capacity building, education, outreach, community projects and training efforts of researchers involved with Arctic knowledge to shape our ASM3 Goal - A Global Conversation Connecting Education, Indigenous Knowledge & Arctic Research

  • 3. Develop virtual education and outreach events and activities focused on the Arctic, building towards our in-person conference in Hofn, Iceland 2022.

Contact polareducators@gmail.com for information on how to contribute.
